Several years ago when we were building the school up in Makochon we hired a young man who knew how to weld. His name was Gregory. All week long, Gregory worked hard along side our workers as the building went up. At the end of the week we paid him for his work, but we were so impressed with him that we gave him our welding equipment and eye protection helmet as part of his pay. Well, just this past week he must have heard we were on the island because he sought us out to thank us again and to let us know how having the welding equipment had changed his life, that his welding business had been supporting his family. Gregory went on to say that he had been saving a portion of his pay from each job and that he has now saved $500 and asked if we would take the money and use it to help him buy a new welder. Our decision was easy.
